How to Surround Yourself with Beauty for a More Inspiring Life

BY DIANA WALKER

As a writer, creativity junkie, and 7-time auntie, it’s a personal need of mine to have beauty in my life.

Need, not want.

I’m sure you creative beings can relate!

It’s not so much beauty for the sake of looking at the thing; rather, it’s for that burst of inspiration. Inspiration leads to amazing opportunities. It’s why I want to encourage you, reading this, to surround yourself with beauty—to build a better business and life.

How to surround yourself with beauty for a more inspiring life as featured in Belong Magazine ISSUE 11 - for female entrepreneurs and creatives

My twenties were when I realized that this need for beauty is one of my core values. Post-graduation and pre-self-sufficiency, I had a few years to discover what inspires me.

Of course, self-discovery is a journey. Although I won’t say that I’ve “arrived”, I do have a clearer definition of my version of a fulfilling life.

The definition of beauty in the conventional sense is superficial, conditional, and fleeting.

“Beauty fades…” a common passé cliché laments. I call BS!

Beauty itself doesn’t fade. Instead, one’s interpretation and perception of beauty changes.

Beauty—with a capital B—is constantly renewing and evolving into a different level.

How about we try creating our own definition of beauty and Beauty?

My definition of beauty is: physical things that I find attractive or appealing. Sometimes it isn’t what society calls beautiful, but that doesn’t matter.

My definition of beauty is more emotional, less physical: the positive energy of simply being without negative judgement; such as loving yourself first without narcissismand giving generously with pure purpose of heart.

By my definition, beauty is love and love is unconditional.
