Bold + Unapologetic / Going After Your Heart's Desires

Sometimes I look at my 7 year old and I am just amazed at her confidence! There is so much we can learn from the innocence of a child who has not been jaded by life experience and exposure to criticism. She is still shielded and protected by her dad and me and for her, life is good. She can dream and be inspired and try things without fear of failure. Wouldn’t it be great to have that same child like faith? The faith that says you can and should go after your dreams!!

Guess what? I’m here to tell you that you can.

When children are in an environment where they feel loved and protected they feel like there are no limits to what they can do. So how do we as women get to that place where we can be courageous and unstoppable?

It starts with knowing who we are.

Often times in life we can be moving so fast that we don’t even have time to recognize our strengths. Recently, a friend asked me when was the last time I celebrated my success? Many times when I look at myself I don’t always see the things that I do as extraordinary because it’s my everyday life. However, I have discovered the longer I’ve lived some things that come easy to me, are areas that I have been “gifted” in.

There are so many things that we are good at as women and we need to take time to celebrate these things. This is where confidence comes from, knowing who you are and what you are good at.

Do you know your strengths? Do you recognize them as strengths or do you make the assumption that everybody can do what you do? I challenge you to take the time to jot down areas where you are a rock star! Are you good at keeping your space orderly? Do you have a very easygoing personality that connects well with others? Do you manage your time well? These are all strengths and you should give yourself a pat on the back for rocking in your strengths!

Have you ever talked yourself out of something you wanted because you just didn’t think it could be possible? I’ve certainly been there. This is another life lesson that I’ve learned from my 7 year old. A couple of years ago my husband and I took our kids to the arcade. After playing many games, my daughter went to cash in her tickets. She only had enough tickets for the items in the first section of the little showcase. None of us expected what came next, she told the young girl behind the counter, “I know I only have enough tickets for one of the items in the first case but I would really like an item from this area here.” At that moment my husband and I looked at each other because we just knew what was going to happen. We were both in for a surprise when the girl behind the counter gave my daughter exactly what she asked for! We all learned a very valuable lesson that day.

If you don’t try to go after what you want you surely won’t get it. Be bold ask the big ask. You just might get what you want.

Ever been around a “Debbie Downer?" One of the most important lessons I’ve learned is that who is in your circle matters.

We must be vigilant about surrounding ourselves with people that will encourage us.

Do you have friends that consistently speak life into you? Do you have friends that recognize your strengths and encourage you to try new things? Learn how to discern who is for you and make space for relationships with people that are going to build you up and help you achieve success this is crucial to achieving your goals. When you are a go-getter you need to be around other go-getters. Now this friendship thing goes both ways so be ready to encourage and support those who are placed in your path for friendship.

So get ready ladies! Get ready to release yourself from mediocrity. Get ready to be bold, courageous, and unstoppable. Remember the power is within you. You are destined and equipped to do great things. We just have to purpose in our hearts that we will not be discouraged. We will believe for what we want and last but not least we will surround ourselves with those who encourage us to always be our best! Here’s to living out those big, bold, and beautiful dreams!
